Digby, Nova Scotia

We stayed in a lovely little B&B in Digby, located directly across from the water. This was the first thing that caught my eye when I walked through the door:
Nothing like a little "Card Tricks" in the sitting room to ensure that you've made the correct selection when it comes to accommodations! Our B&B was conveniently located close to the office of information/tourism. The building (below) was painted in the folk art style of native Maud Lewis; who, I came to learn, is the Nova Scotian equivalent of our Grandma Moses. We walked over to this office to pick up some maps/brochures/recommendations as soon as we had completed our check-in. It's a good thing we did, they were closing for the season the very next day! Actually, this was a recurring theme: everything was closing up, it seemed, as we left: restaurants, lodging facilities and public venues. We had the distinct privilege of shutting off the lights and locking the doors on Nova Scotia, so to speak, as they prepare to batten down the hatches for the long winter season ahead! We just barely squeaked through in time.

Digby Harbor and the Bay Of Fundy:

Exploring Digby, a treat for both the eyes and for the stomach:

Lobster traps stacked and ready to go:
Scallops, every bit as delicious as advertised:

We stayed in Digby for two nights and explored areas in both directions from there; stay tuned for future posts. But, before we checked out of the Bayside Inn, I snapped a few quilt photos in the guest rooms, these were all made by the proprietress:

Leave it to you to find a quilter's B&B in which to rest your head in Maine!

I love the signs on the restaurant. I've always wanted to eat somewhere that served lobster rolls.

Did you choose your B&B's because of their beautiful quilts? I know there's a book about all the best quilt shops in America.....is there a similar one highlighting the best B&B's for quilt makers? ;-)

More beautiful photos of the scenery. NS is such a gorgeous place!

A quilt makes you know you've chosen the right place for sure. I need to plan a trip up there just for the seafood for sure!

Looks like a lovely place to stay! And I'm so glad you arrived when you did.....a little later, and who knows what would have happened!

Obviously you picked the right place to stay. : )
What gorgeous scenery! Would love to take a stroll there.
I prefer to travel in the off season (not that I travel much)--so much less of the crowds and congestion. Looks like a lovely adventure for the two of you.

Now, I would like that job! Making quilts for B and B guestrooms! At least that way the quilts would get seen by a lot of people! I too would agree that a B and B with quilts was the correct choice!
