On A Roll...

It happens every four years, during the Olympics, I walk around every day in a sleep-deprived stupor. Yes, we have DVR, no we don't use it to record all the events and watch them during normal hours, of course not! Why do I insist on staying up until midnight watching Danell Leyva take the podium to receive his medal? I didn't even know who Danell was last week at this time. The WHY here is a rhetorical question, it's the same one that I ask every four years... I'm tired, but I wouldn't miss a minute of any of it. This morning in the pre-dawn hours (I'm still getting up at the same time, which may help account for my current state of exhaustion) I almost dropped my coffee cup when I stepped inside the studio and encountered this bad boy standing here! Whoa!! Oh, yeah... I forgot that a gigantic roll of batting was delivered yesterday, I thought someone was standing in wait. It took a moment for my heart to return to my chest. My enthusiasm, and focus, for quilting this summer haven't waned. As you can see by the amount of batting and the quilt tops in a queue, I have my work cut out for me, I'm on a roll! The only thing I need now is a little more sleep; thank goodness the Olympics only happens every four years.
Today is national Ice Cream Sandwich Day, by the way... how will you celebrate?
Life is Good!

Oh, I feel your pain! I am the same way, but it was fun to see that young man on the podium, wasn't it? And then I watch the local news afterward. I find myself singing, "What kind of fool am I?"
I am trying to mark and baste a queen size quilt and the only floor space large enough is our living room--which has no TV. It is hard for me to miss the events. I find myself doing other chores where I can see the TV and then hurrying to mark and pin a block during commercials. Madness!

I just said to Jim last night that when I look out into our neighborhood at midnight, all our neighbors still have their lights on! That doesn't happen on our sleepy little cul-de-sac. Everybody's watching the Olympics and walking around sleep-deprived the next day! And NBC always saves the most exciting competition for 11 PM. It's only 18 months till the Winter Olympics....make sure you catch up on sleep before then! ;-)

Oh, honey, don't you watch the WINTER Olympics, too? Love from your similarly sleep-deprived friend Near Philadelphia

Um, I hate to break it to you, but the winter Olympics will be rolling around again in just a mere 2 years........

Love the summer version of the Olympics but staying up until midnight is de riguer for me so I'm not quite so sleep deprived :) All those pretty tops waiting for their turn to become REAL quilts make me smile. Enjoy using up that great big roll :)

I have been enjoying the commercials too. The one that shows all the Moms and that they still view their athletes as seven years old....gets me every time

We call the big roll of batting "the mummy". He stays in the bathtub in the front of the house.

Mine is hiding in the fabric pantry out of harms way! the Olympics are just amazing aren't they! So glad it's real time for us, it's captivated the nation, just what we needed!
