My C.O.W.* Moment

I don't normally use this forum as a soapbox, indulge me today. I do enjoy technology and I am in favor of communication, those are facts.  I don't think of myself, normally, as a C.O.W. (*cranky old woman) either; but I suppose that personal appraisal is subjective. The thing that I do NOT enjoy is the proliferation of people everywhere, in all situations, texting and giving little if any regard to their present company and/or surroundings. I don't appreciate sales people waiting on me in between texting on the job. I don't like students in quilt classes constantly being interrupted by texts coming in or even begin to understand the immediate need to respond on my time! I believe that texting at the dinner table is beyond rude.  I cannot tolerate texting in the pew during worship service on Sunday morning. In my humble opinion there needs to be a class for texting etiquette and everyone, everyone, needs to enroll!

Thank you, I'm stepping down now.
Moo~
Life is Good!

*COW definition compliments of Nancy, thank you.

Moo! Moo! Moo! Very annoying teen in the audience of an expensive play texting throughout -- that light-up screen very distracting. Adult-who-should-know-better texting away during the symphony. Moo! Moo! Moo! Lunch companion interrupting our meal together -- think we'll go out to eat again soon? NOT! Moo! Moo! Moo!

I have the bible on my phone. I can find passages much faster this way but I do fear that the older folks in church just think I am on Facebook or playing games....

Like Nane, I know many people at church are using their phones to access their scriptures (DH for one), but I KNOW most people with their nose in their phone and their thumb engaged that I encounter on any given day, are NOT looking for spiritual uplift. Moo away!!

I agree! My SIL banned all phones from the dinner table and do you know who the worst offender is, her husband! It's the driving and texting that scares the bejeebers out of me.....

I agree. There should be a class. However, the worst offenders don't think they are being rude.

Future generations probably won't even know how to have a face to face conversation. I agree with you totally.

I so agree! I took a social media class (for business) and our instructor told us that no matter the medium or method, real life trumps every time!

I agree totally. I had lunch with someone who texted their way through the meal and haven't had lunch with her since. Also in Aust texting and driving is illegal. Paople still do it though.

How true. And I might take your acronym as far as Why Am I Typing? (this blog post) and to THINK before I post it!

But truly, I notice a lot more texting going on now that I am back in the States.
