Something New:
I registered up for a class, my supplies are all ready to go. I bought a Quick Curve Ruler back in February when I was at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival. I fell in love with the Metro Rings quilt that was on display, made with the ruler. I never opened the package; after returning back home I put the ruler away and never looked back. Then, in April, when I attended MQX I visited an entire "
Sew Kind Of Wonderful" exhibit; a great number of quilts made using the Quick Curve Ruler, I was inspired! I vowed to get my ruler out as soon as I got home again. And yet, the ruler remained in its packaging. Then, I noticed on a local quilt shop's calendar, the Metro Rings class. I signed up, it became clear to me that I needed a teacher and fellow students, plus a deadline to jump start this effort...tomorrow's the day: my Quick Curve will be set free at long last! I feel like a kid on her first day of school, I'm eager to learn something new!
Something New Again:
When Lucy Ann visited last month we picked out fabric for Nana too make her a dress. I haven't smocked in a long time... I don't really know why. Luckily, I fell right back into the rhythm. I have set myself up a little space to work on the smocking for a few hours a day, I watch a movie on Netflix at the same time and find it an enjoyable afternoon activity. The movies that I had selected over the last few days were not worth recommending... to anyone. That pattern of so-so viewing ended today, which brings me to the third something...
Something Not To Miss:
Truth. Redemption. Forgiveness. Love. This film has it all.
Life is Good!

Your smocking is beautiful. I smocked a lot when my daughters were little and loved it, too. Have you ever smocked Easter eggs or Christmas ornaments? I made a lot of each years ago and should make some now. Enjoy your class!
Congratulations for liberating that ruler!
thanks for the recommendation....we have been watching acorn tv....british detective stuff of late...and be good at school...play nice with the others...LOL
Sometimes, not. Rey often though, I wish for a 'like' button; cityquilter grace's comment made me smile. I've ne dr tried smocking and I doubt that I will, but yours is lovely. I already have too many hobbies.
Your smocking is beautiful! Enjoy your class tomorrow!
Hope you have a great time in the class. I know I often need a class to kick-start learning a new technique. : )
Beautiful smocking, Debbie.
i purchased one of those rulers about 2 years ago, and was going to use it, but not yet, hopefully soon though.
You are now giving me even MORE of a reason to come and visit you! I have that ruler too and would love to learn how to use it, you go first!! I also have always wanted to learn how to smock. Do you have the pleater that does that for you or do you take your fabric somewhere and have them do it for you?
I will be curious to hear how the class goes....I'm now attempting the same pattern. I spent the first half of this year making Urban Beads -- my least favorite of their patterns but the one that was picked out by the bride & groom when I gave them that website to pick their wedding quilt. The queen sized quilt was finally completed and gifted a couple weeks ago. Now I'm attempting Metro Rings since Monday will be our 25th wedding anniversary. It's not as easy as I thought it would be but definitely easier than the double wedding ring I made for my parents 50th.
