Wonderful World of Color*

It's a beautiful time of year right now, there's color everywhere. . .
and the quilt blocks under the needle in the sewing room are no exception! I'm still plugging away on the Barn Star Sampler, playing catch up for time missed.
I'm back at it again today, stitching blocks. It's hard, though, when I'm distracted by the wonderful world of color that surrounds me just outside the door. What distracts you?
As for Augie, he's enjoying the warmer days and time spent out on the porch.
We won't get into what distracts him: a leaf blowing by, a reflection in the window,
a dog barking on television, a fly buzzing by, a stick on the ground... the list goes on! 😄

*Being of a certain age, this phrase conjures up images of Tinkerbell
flying over Cinderella's Castle and turning the black and white images
to technicolor on the Sunday evening broadcasts of Walt Disney's TV show.
I recall being ten years old or so and allowed to watch it at a friend's
home down the street; she had a color TV! Such a sweet memory.

Plugging Away...

I'd fallen a few months behind on one of the block-of-the-month classes that I'd signed up for at my LQS. The heat and humidity has driven me inside, a perfect time to catch up on piecing those last few blocks; and, while I was at it, another thirteen setting blocks for good measure! I believe that this setting brings the entire piece to life and that the lighter background fabric, for the setting blocks, helps it to sparkle. As you can see, only one block left to get together and place, then it's on to the borders. And, just when this one's together, there's another BOM waiting in the wings for similar attention! There's no chance that I'm going to run out of projects in the near, or even distant, future.

I just keep plugging away...
sew on and sew forth!

Feeling Fall-ish

I've got a million explanations for where I've been. None of them sound nearly as exciting as the truth-- we've been super busy and here, there and everywhere since I last posted; and, while we've been gone, the seasons have changed! I got this pumpkin wall hanging quilted and off the rails before we left. The binding was attached by machine but the handwork was left for the monotonous hours of passenger time in the car. If the truth be told, I finished two quilt bindings by hand in the last week! More than good use of my time, it also keeps my eyes and hands otherwise occupied. I can be a VERY nervous passenger- I blame that on TOO MANY trucks!
I got the pumpkin quilt hung on the porch wall after we arrived back home; that, combined with my low-volume fall-ish lap quilt, help to signal the season change. I still have more plans out here.

One step at a time. It's all coming together.
This one; our second grandchild and oldest granddaughter, she turned ELEVEN while we were gone. We blinked!
What a smart, kind, loving and happy addition she is to our family; we couldn't be any prouder.
💗
I'm back... with lots (and lots) to share.
