Where Did They Go?
Morton's Honey BunsThere was a product that I used to buy, Morton's Honey Buns. They were delicious. They were sold frozen, 4 to the box (just the right size for our family) and were heated on a cookie sheet in the oven. They were warmed to perfection when the glaze would just begin to bubble... ah, I can almost taste them now! What happened to them? Honey Buns were our Sunday morning indulgence, a breakfast treat quickly served before heading out the door for church. I'll bet I haven't seen them for fifteen years, at least... Kyle confirmed this morning that he remembered them too. Good, at least I'm not that old! Certainly I can remember foods from my childhood that wouldn't be familiar to anyone else reading here, I dare say; 1,2,3 Jello, Pillsbury Space Food Sticks, Fizzies tablets, Whip & Chill, Freakies cereal, Danish-Go-Rounds (strawberry- YUM!), Shake-A-Pudding and Sky Bar chocolate bars are probably only familiar to you if you are 50 something like me. But, I digress... I'd trade them all for a bite of a warm Morton's Honey Bun this morning!

It might be the fact that I worked out this morning that has prompted this state of mind. I don't know. If anyone knows why Morton stopped baking those delicious Honey Buns, or where I can find a box, please let me know. I'll have the plate, fork and hot coffee ready...

Life Is Good!
(It was good with Honey Buns, too!)

I don't like bad news in any form. I suspected they weren't around anywhere anymore; rats. It's funny, when I started thinking about foods that are no longer available I remembered that when I was a newlywed (1975) there were Pillsbury "Egg Baskets", in the refrigerated dough section. My husband loved them (he was a newlywed, too and LOVED anything I cooked back then! ha!) they were separate pieces of dough, pressed into a muffin pan-- into which you cracked an egg and baked them to the desired "doneness". They came in "cheese", "bacon" and "plain/original" if memory serves. Does anyone remember these?

Ummm.... I was three. Actually, I was three ON THE DAY you became a newlywed. Was I there? Everything before 4 is a little foggy...
