Equipment...
Do I Have What I Need?We had a program presented yesterday to our Circle group by our Vicar. She is in her internship year with us and will have another year of Seminary studies before ordination, she is 46; ordained ministry is a second career for her. She will have 15-18 years as a Pastor after a congregational call is issued. She shared her faith journey with us, her struggles to recognize God's nudging until it felt as though she was receiving blows to her head! I can understand that. She mentioned that God can use us, all of us, wherever we are in our journey; that God doesn't call the equipped but rather equips the called. Not necessarily to ordained ministry, but to work with and serve Him. I've been thinking about her words ever since, it brings something to mind that I recently read, from yet another church bulletin:
If you feel like God can't use you remember:
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer... AND
Lazarus was dead!
No more excuses, God can use you to your full potential.
Life is Good!
