Sharing Custody

Hey, there... it's me, Hannes. I am sharing custody of Mom and Dad these days and let me tell you this, that can be tough on a little guy with short legs! Mom hangs out in the Studio all the time while Dad is in the garage restoring his classic Olds, downstairs; that's a LOT of steps to run up and down. One day last week Dad closed the door at the top of the stairs, that got in the way of my shared custody arrangement, I don't know what he was thinking. I had to make a lot of noise until he figured out what was wrong and left the door ajar; after all, I have to keep my options open. I think he's learning. (Teaching can be one of those seemingly thankless jobs until a lightbulb goes off, then it's all worth it!) Anyway, it's always good to have some progress to report, I do what I can.

Life is Good!

Oh, Hannes, I feel your pain! My people easily acknowledge my request to go out on the deck, but getting them to let me kn EXACTLY when I want to come in is driving all of us crazy. They can be SO dense!

Oh Hannes! You are so brave to go up and down steps all day long! I do not like steps. Going up is okay but down! Very frightening! You are so brave! (sigh)

Gee, Hannes is Dad really working on his car or is he just taking a nap? My Dad when he works on his car gets all greasey and dirty. Your Dad is so clean and dress in a nice looking shirt! I think my Dad needs to take lessons from your Dad on hoe to work on a car and stay clean & neat.

Hannes ~ I feel your pain (I have really short legs, too). There are 3 flights of steps at my house and there are lots of steps at Camp Sefton, too (I don't go in the shop there - too many scary tools - but I do hang out in the quilt studio, a lot, upstairs)...

Tippy

p.s. I bark at closed doors, too - people just don't understand!

A doggy's work is never done. I know just how you feel - my parents are forever moving into different rooms making my day difficult. Someday they will learn . . . they just have to.

Stairs? Who does stairs? I take a running leap from the living room off the porch. (My ears help me fly). Of course, leaping UP the stairs is a little more work, but I can do two at a time.

Then I have to take a nap on the back of the sofa, if I can't find a convenient lap.

Ummm, have you tried scratching the glass or the door? I think it makes a nice sound, but Momma and Daddy-Man aren't too keen on it. They always hurry to let me in. Maybe that would work for you!

Know how you feel Hannes. Sometimes our father shuts us down in the garage. It is cold -& spooky! We sit & wait patiently, but finally we have to woof or whimper or leap up & down vigourously scratching at the door, before 'they' realise where we are!! O the indignity!

Hannes, way to go! Sometimes you just have to let your voice be heard. My Dad always forget and shuts the door on me too. When will he learn!
