Commit!
Last week, at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, I attended a lecture by Augusta Cole. I took notes. She outlined her model for productivity and success. Among other items that I jotted down was this: "commit to your work, set a goal, establish a deadline (deadlines make a difference)". Here is the tangible result. I came straight home and loaded this quilt onto Sundance. I am completing the handwork on the binding today. I can't reveal the front yet, it is a gift, but I will offer show and tell soon. I am adhering to this plan, outlined by Augusta: "measure your success by continued forward movement". Hmmm... sounds good, I can do this! I was ready to hear the words and take down notes, her lecture proved to be just the nudge I needed!

love the binding! :)
If the quilt is half as lovely as that basket it will be a gem!
I really should have been at that lecture. A lesson in productivity would do me some good! But I like the "measure your success by continued forward movement" comment. We can apply that thought to just about anything!
New Basket???
can't wait to see the front!
I wish Augusta would put her lecture on a CD and we could listen to it every day! Motivation! There needs to be a motivational CD for quilters!!!
Beautiful quilting and great binding...a very lucky person to get that! Such good words for us to follow....I am making a copy of your post!
I've never heard of Augusta Cole. What a great experience to get a dose of motivation. I know I would have enjoyed that, too. I love "measure your success by continued forward movement." I really really like that a lot!
I simply must add your quilting is outstanding!
Deadlines - that's it. I can set all the goals in the world, but without a deadline - I'll never get there. Now that is an 'Aha moment' *s*
Boy do I need to adopt that philosophy. Good for you! I can't wait for the big reveal!
I agree! can't wait to see the front. Also, what great advise! I think I will try it also.
I love the basket and the quilting...can't wait to see it finished. Is that quilting done by hand or machine? I have a machine that quilts but have yet to try out quilting on it. Good post!
I too, work better with a deadline. When is the reveal? I have a basket similiar to that one that I got overseas. :-) Love it
That's a good advice... set goals and establish deadlines... I must remember to do it with my personal projects.
Can't wait to see the front of that quilt!
Knowing the goal is the most important thing in doing anything but it is the step that I seem to forget in the hub-bub. Thank you for reminding me.
Wonderful words of wisdom for us all, I think! Thanks for sharing.
I can't wait for the reveal of this quilt - it looks beautiful from the back.
