Our daughter called the other day, requesting a special favor. Mason
loves his
Picture Play quilt ("
kilt"). It transforms frequently into a fort, covering his little play table and becoming his refuge for books and quiet play. He wanted it to accompany him for nap time recently; but his request was denied, based on it's sheer size. Our daughter feared he could become entangled in it while he slept in his crib. She confessed that it broke her heart to hear him plead: "
kilt... p-e-e-e-ese?" Her request, for Mason, was another Picture Play quilt; a smaller one this time. One that he can hold and carry around easily, one with Elmo and a fringe animal embroidery... could I do that?
"Could I... is she serious"?? I quilted this one with
SunBurst thread, when he takes this one outside he'll delight in watching the white stitching turn blue, right before his eyes! Mason is coming to visit next weekend. Guess what will be waiting for him!

He's gonna LOVE this one too! Go Grammie!
I just KNEW you'd find a good use for that fabric! SUCH a good grandma you are ...
What's not to love about this kilt? It's even got Melmo (gotta love 2 year old speak). I have a feeling that this one's going to get loved to shreds.
That is such an awesome quilt...no wonder he wants to take it with him....
Aww, Debbie! How sweetamous. :)
Grandma to the rescue, and it is adorable! Mason will love this "kilt" to pieces, as it is meant to be! So very special and a wonderful surprise for next week! Thank you for sharing your creative rescue with us!

Ah, you're gonna get a big hug and sloppy kiss for that one!
I red you prior blog too about your Stars and Scraps Forever. Great looking quilt, but now I will be marching out to my car at the end of the day still humming that song.
:)
It looks wonderful. It certainly pays to know a quilter in the family you can give special requests to.
