And Yet Another Giveaway...
I have two brand-new, straight from the publisher, books to offer; just leave a comment and tell me when and where you make time to read and one of these could be yours! I know that you're all as busy and stretched each and every day as I am and, quite frankly, I'd love to fit more reading time into my schedule. Please share your time management strategy for making that happen. I'll draw two winners from the comments... you have until Sunday night, the winners will be announced on Monday morning, I'll post the results here. The Elm Creek Quilts Companion is a pre-release, it won't hit the stores until November. The Double Wedding Ring is newly published, it was introduced to bookstores last month and is a quick and easy-reading mystery novel. You can read more about both books by clicking on the above links. Thanks so much to Penguin Group for giving me yet one more opportunity to get great quilty books in your hands! So... when do you squeeze in time to read?

Let's see, there are the rare times I get to soak in the jetted tub. I always take a book with me. Then the days that the weather prevents me from taking a walk. I read while I use the exercise bike. Finally, when I should be in bed, but I need to unwind--the recliner and a good book are just the thing!
I think the better question for me is "when don't you read?" I sneak in a chapter or two between cleaning jobs, read books on my phone while waiting in lines, read on my nook while I'm brushing my teeth and drying my hair, and when I'm quilting or driving, I'm listening to an audio book. Thanks for the giveaway! I'm a regular reader of your blog, but rarely comment (too bust reading...).
I always carry a book in my bag or on my iphone kindle app to read when I ave a few minutes.
I read for a few minutes before bed, but, sometimes, it's difficult to put it down and go to bed!
Love your blog!
I always have my kindle close by. Mostly i read in the evenings, but the kindle goes with me wherever i go.
I usually read for a little bit before falling asleep and while I'm eating lunch. I used to read a whole lot more until blog reading took over....so now I actually listen to more books while quilting than I actually read. Is that a commentary on how times have changed?
I usually read in bed and am very upset when I fall asleep before I get far into a book. I also take a book along with me to the pool and simultaneously reading and eating a sandwich is my reward to myself for getting some exercise in. English books are few and far between around here so Kindle has been a lifesaver, but I still like turning a page best of all.
I get up verrrrry early in the morning (just my bio clock). I learned when I had small children this was a great time to read. Even though they are grown and moved away, this is still my "quiet" time when I do most of my reading. I also "read" alot of audio books while I sew or knit.
My senior year high school English teacher advised "Relax. Don't be rigid about time. Let moments be your friend." Basically she was teaching us to read even with small windows of time and not be so structured/in need of blocks of time.
Whenever I am alone and sit to eat, I read. If I am not reading a book, it is a magazine or newspaper. If not that, then a blog or something I googled. Even gum wrappers or ingredients in a product! The compulsion to read never ends and there is something new to be learned or discovered!
How fun. I usually read in the afternoon (retired so no kids, etc to take care e of). I've read all the Elm Creek novels.
I usually read for an hour or so before bed, sometimes while nursing a hot cup of cocoa! It is my favorite time of the day.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I keep my iPad or books nearby and read whenever I have a few moments here or there ... waiting at the doctor's office, while waitting for dinner to finish up, in the mornings before DH gets up, etc.
My reading time is when my husband has his afternoon nap! Quiet time!
Mostly these days it's when I'm having breakfast or dinner or after watching the grandkids and they go to bed
I never go to an appointment without my current book in my hand. Makes waiting so much easier when I can entertain myself! I also usually read in the evenings.
I read on my Kindle Paperwhite all the time. Usually at meals and waiting in the hallway for kids to fall asleep!
I love to read after my devotionals something about quilting, etc,so that is a time I try to take each day. then it is off and running to get things done. It is the best start for my day.
I listen to books on my commute to work (I get books thru audible.com) and I always have a book going next to the bed that I read at night and when I'm travelling or sitting at a doctors appoint or waiting somewhere I have the Kindle app on my phone and always have a book there to read as well.
I always read a chapter or two right before bed. It helps calm my mind and usually helps me get sleepy. Sometimes, though, If I hit a really intense part of the book, I find myself staying up reading until 2 a.m.! Makes for a groggy next morning and the need for an extra cup of coffee to get me going.
i read every chance i get, thanks for the chance
When ever and where ever I can. Since having to go to work full time it gets pretty hard to balance it all, a good read is a welcome diversion - if I can stay awake long enough.
I always make time to read no matter how busy I am - either at the end of the day or in small bits of stolen time during the day.
I am fortunate enough to be a very fast reader (started very early)so go through a lot of books during the year - thank goodness for our very good public library.
Thanks for the give away.
I love to read before I go to bed in the evenings. It helps me relax and get the eyelids a little heavy. Also carry a book in the car when we travel. Even going shopping I can get in a page or two on the way, as long as hubby is driving!!

Am very much like another poster, the real question is when am I *not* reading? My kindle goes with me every where, I read during my lunch time at work; while waiting for anything (even during traffic jams,in the evenings after dinner. One thing tho, have only fallen asleep reading one time my entire life. My husband made the comment the next day that he knew I was completely exhausted 'cause he'd never, ever seen me asleep with a book in my hands! If there's words to be read, I'm awake...
I always always have a book with me whether it is a hard copy or acne book.
Ack! E book not acne.
I tend to go in spurts but I like to keep my ereader close by to read while waiting for appointments or while my grandson in napping.
I have read all of Earlene Fowler's mysteries, whatever has been published by Diane Galabon and any book by Marie Bostwick. I check books out from my library (like the feel of paper in my hands versus a e-reader) and usually have 3 or 4 books going at one time. Most of my reading is done in the evenings, before going to bed ... but I have been known to while away a few hours on a rainy afternoon curled up in my sewing room wingback chair reading a great book.
most always before bedtime and during free time also if it's a "can't put down"....those both look good!
I sneak in some reading before bed,and if it is a really good book, I stay up way too late :-)
When I was waiting for my eye appointment, I, of course, was reading my book. The young lady who took me into check my pressures laughed and said she didn't think she'd recognize me without a book in my hand. I almost always have a book in my purse for those five minute waits at various places. Always be prepared!! I also use audio books when I'm piecing! I do find it difficult to concentrate on anything other than quilting when I'm longarming but I'm sure, in time, I'll be able to listen to a book then as well. Lurking Linda
I take some time to read each day on my lunch break. Sometimes if I have a shred of energy left I read before I fall asleep at night too. Never enough time with all the other things I like and need to do.
I sneak in a chapter every night before I go to sleep. It helps me relax.
Susan
I make time to read when I get hooked by a book and don't turn on the t.v.
I read while I'm waiting for something to cook, or while I'm waiting to pick up my grand-daughter or just before I go to bed. If it's a *sit-at-the-machine- and-quilt-all-day* day, I read when I take short breaks to relax. In other words every little chance I get! :>)
Oh, I'd love to read those books. I guess my best time to read is sitting up in bed with pillows all around at nighttime. I also love to read in the car. My kindle is my friend, but I love the feel of a good book. Thanks for the offer.
I mostly listen to my stories while I work, but I sneak a chapter in from a 'real' book while I have my lunch each day.
