Finally, A Finish!

No, not a quilt finish but a finish nonetheless. I believe that I started this one the summer before last but it's done, in a frame and ready for its close up! I had to laugh when I read Mary's Country Threads blog the other day and she referred to quilters who've taken up cross stitch as "jumping ship"! I haven't gone all in, as in totally overboard, but I do stitch to unwind in the evenings and have an outing to a cross stitch shop planned for tomorrow! Maybe I'm in deeper than I thought. 😉  It's been hard to get into the sewing room the past few days what with getting the perennial garden weeded and cleaned up for new growth emerging, and tending to the sourdough! Seriously, keeping up with the starter and using it on a regular basis is like a adopting a baby! Last week I did a big batch of cinnamon rolls and this week I've baked rustic whole wheat loaves as well as bread bowls for soup.
Whole Wheat
Bread "bowls"; these were yummy!
I did manage to get another (2024) BOM block together in an effort to stay ahead. I'm still working backwards (2023) too, as time allows. I'm also piecing blocks L-E style at the same time; stay tuned for those; they're cute.

What's on your "finished" list lately?
Life is Good!

My daughter likes to remember way back when we had a starter for Amish Friendship Bread and keeping up with it was such a challenge. I used to say "Another mouth to feed!" and she just loved that.

I have no finishes in quite awhile but I am just 2 blocks short of finishing a scrappy quilt for donation. I love your cross stitch birdy--do you know the name. So cute and something I might actually finish! HA Thanks!

I don’t cross-stitch any more but I DO knit in the evenings.

Amen to starters being demanding (we did the Amish friendship bread when we lived in Indiana - it was all the rage in our neighborhood). The “jumping ship” idea has also been floated for those of us who play with paper (collage, book and journal making). I like having options - so long as there is creative energy involved.

Your wholewheat bread looks like mine - when I make it properly (sometime I fail!) and what lovely pics of your mum & dad, congratulations to them both. I also jump around different creative items, from quilting to cross stitch to dressmaking and embroidery, making covered boxes - keeps me happy.

cross stitch is an excellent pastime to switch from quilty gears and just get lost in the simplicity of it...ooh those bread bowls look yummy!

Oh that bread looks delicious! I guess I jumped ship to knitting rather than cross stitch which I did before quilting. It keeps us out of casinos and bars. Look forward to seeing your next quilt blocks and cross stitch

I have done a couple of cross stitch projects. For me, they just didn't replace quilting. Yours is so beautiful, and your breads look so delicious. It has been a couple of months since I've made anything in the bread category. Work and life definitely distract from domestic things.

Good you are ahead (sort of) on your BOM. Working backward with this year's goals sounds like the perfect idea.
