I drink very few soft drinks these days, with age comes wisdom, nowadays I'm protecting my bones for the future! It hasn't always been this way, I used to drink sodas with wild abandon. When I finished up the grocery shopping on Thursday I purchased a bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper out of the cooler at the check out; just for old times sake, it made me feel young and altogether reckless again! I drank half of it on the way home, replaced the cap and refrigerated the remaining drink. At lunch time on Friday I grabbed the bottle and twisted off the cap. There was a code on the inside of the lid, a series of numbers and letters ending with "U WIN". Huh? Further inspection of the cap carried instructions that led me to the company's website. I had to log in and create an account to determine my winnings. The entire process took approximately ten minutes; all the while I was wondering what I could have possibly won; a trip, cash, a new car? The answer flashed across the computer screen: "You've WON... a free Diet Dr. Pepper! Your coupon should arrive in approximately four to six weeks!" Oh. Then I saw it, printed BOLDLY across the label on the now empty bottle: "ONE IN SIX WINS A FREE DR. PEPPER". It pays to read. But, still...I won! I won!!
