I Hate Socks!
Let me explain, it's not really socks I hate so much
as what wearing socks signals; the end of summer!
I love summer, warm weather, sandals, and bare feet. The happiest I've ever been, from a clothing standpoint, is when we lived for eighteen months in Puerto Rico! I never had to so much as even open my sock drawer during that year and a half. I know it's possible to wear my sandals with socks... nah; it's just not the same.

My Mom sent me a really cute pair of socks for my birthday. They're "Quilting Girl" socks and I know I'll have them on my feet a LOT... as soon as I need to. I'm going to hold off as long as I can. My toenails are painted "Grand Canyon Sunset", the perfect early-fall color, and I can't bear to cover them up just yet. My flip-flops are still front row center in my closet.
I really love my flip-flops, however I know their days are numbered. The leaves are beginning to turn now. The nights are cooler and I'm faced with reality, we're in the last quarter of the year. When it happens, dreaded frost, I'll be ready. My sock drawer is well-stocked and the prospect of cold feet is less desirable than relegating my sandals to the back of the closet.
They know I'll be back as soon as I can; I'll happily bring them to the forefront once again, March? Maybe??

You know I think socks with sandals is "lovely" and I would never say anything against it.
Hummm.... For me sandals are only put on hold when there is snow on the ground!
Quiltkeemosabe: I think that look is reserved for clergy.
Kyle: And then, that's only to slip into your ski boots, right?
bingo!
So long sandals! We'll miss you! Have a good vacation.
I feel the same way.
You know I"m just kind of worried. A lot of your blogs say that you posted them at 3am. Are you really getting up and that coherent at that time of day??? I'm worried. But then, hey, it said I posted my comment at 6:25 am and I KNOW that's not true. What's up with the clock on this thing?????
I'm going to need the inside line on getting a pair of those socks. Lisa is your exact opposite: she loves socks. But not just any socks. We call her collection "crazy socks". Basically, socks with silly designs on them. It doesn't matter where she's going, no event is too formal.
If you ever see Lisa at a funeral, check her socks. I'd bet a paycheck that they have monkeys on them or something. (But she's not disrespectful: they would be sad monkeys of course.
Fall is my absolute favorite season. So much visible change, you can really feel the seasons moving. I can well understand why Mr. Kyle so looks forward to heading off to the mountains this time of year.
