I have a question for all of you; if you have trouble remembering something do you look it up or wrack your brain and try to recall that missing information on your own? Here's an example: yesterday (don't ask why!) I was quoting the nursery rhyme "Georgie Porgie..." and couldn't remember what Georgie did after kissing the girls and making them cry. I thought and thought and all I could come up with was "when he saw what he had done..." and realized I was confusing it with the rhyme about Lizzie Borden. Clearly, my mind was running amok and I couldn't recall, so I Googled it. Ah, that's right, "when the boys came out to play, Georgie Porgie ran away!" Easy- peasy. Problem solved. But, this bothered me the more I thought about it. Is all of the information that's out there too easily accessible, to the detriment of our brains? I think that maybe it is. Although I appreciate what's at my fingertips I'm going to give my own gray matter more of a chance going forward, that muscle needs exercise too. What do you think?
And maybe I can't find yeast, but I can still bake. Peanut Butter cookies fresh out of the oven.
Stay safe my friends, take good care and wash your hands! 🧼

I’ve been reading a lot about wild yeast. It is basically sourdough but is garnering the wild yeast from the environment. Maybe you should try it. I just bought a package of yeast from the King Arthur flour website. It’s 16oz!! Too bad we don’t live closer, I’d share with you as I think I now have a lifetime supply.
Love to hear of your adventures and boy do those cookies look good, I was thinking about baking some just the other day. Stay safe and love to read your blog. Hugs, Marie
Well, you seriously made me laugh today. I love the juxtaposition of Georgie and Lizzie!
Check online for yeast - we've ordered from both Amazon and King Arthur over the last few months (DH bakes all of our bread as well as loaves for elder son and his family - those are drive by drop offs now). And we tend to look things up after about 5 minutes of thinking and comparing what we do or don't remember.
i have some i can send you...if you want to give (email) me your snail addy....
I can finally justify my buying a 2lb. bag of yeast at Costco.
