The Southern Album
re-do continues, my original Pineapple block is history and has been replaced with an improved version. Ignore the vast lighting variable, the background fabric is
exactly the same; in real life the actual color is somewhere in between these two photos! I'm pleased that I persevered as I believe these changes will make a big difference (hopefully for the better) in the finished product. The redone block and it's place in the grander scheme:
What's next? A Carolina Lily block will occupy the upper left corner, in shades of blue with two little unexpected surprises... stay tuned. Now that I'm back at it I am as energized as I was in the beginning; and
sew it goes...
I received this quote by Harry Truman in an e-mail this morning, it sums up my feelings about this quilt that has languished as a unfinished project for much too long:
"Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction."
Life is Good!

Beautiful!!!
That is a wonderful improvement! Love the fussy cutting in the center and the center of the pineapples works so much better.
I think both look really pretty.
Keep reminding me to find that book. It's gotta be here somewhere!
Wow! what an amazing difference. The block went from blah to wow! It has a nice little pop of color now. Good job.
Great re-do on the block. It really pops now. Love the progress you are making. Judy C
Glad you are back at it...it's a spectacular quilt!
Wow! Seeing this inspires me and reminds me (yet again) why I wanted to learn applique. 2nd day of class tomorrow. :) Perfectly timed. Seems we're often walking the road in synch ~ somehow.
Love the pop of that blue in the pineapples. Really snappy!
I'm so glad you're making progress. It'll be well worth it.
Love the quote. I think I'll hang it in my quilt room.
There must be something in the air ... this need so many of us are feeling to deal with the UFOs in our lives.
LOVE what you are doing with this project!
