'Tis The Season

It's summer, and you know what that means-- it's peach milkshake season at Chick Fil A! I was treated to one the other evening, (Mr. G knows the way to my heart!) following the latest dental procedure I really didn't want to bite down or chew on anything too hard. That was my excuse then; I don't really have an excuse for the second one that I had yesterday, except for the fact that they're only around seasonally-- yep, that works! Speaking of summer, and seasons, I realized yesterday when I was putting away laundry that I have a summer "uniform" of sorts. Every day, it seems, I wear a short sleeved T-shirt and Bermuda shorts, they're all Life is Good T-shirts, too (of course!). I never really counted how many I have, I just get out a clean one and grab one of three pairs of shorts that I rotate. I have twelve, 12!, T-shirts with one LIG motif or another on the front! Seriously? I had no idea. Some of them are truly vintage, too. I didn't pay any attention to the fact that when I get new ones I never get rid of the old ones, they're still in great shape!   And these are just my short sleeved ones-- I have long sleeved ones too. Apparently I have a problem collection 😉.  If I go out anywhere (I did wear 'real clothes', something more respectable, to the dentist's office this week); but, with the stay-at-home business, it seems I hardly ever go anywhere anymore! Do you have a summer uniform, or "quarantine clothes", for these lazy, hazy, crazy days?
We watched this the other night on Netflix, I highly recommend it; two thumbs up-- way up!
I'm quilting up a couple of quilts right now for a friend, this was the first one up and it's a perfect bright and breezy summertime quilt for a little girl; the simple design begged for loopy flowers quilted with mint green thread; it looks great on the white backing too. Yes, it's summertime and the livin' is easy!
'tis the season ~ stay cool!

Just Like That...

... July is gone and this boy is NINE years old already! NINE!! What? How did that happen?

He celebrated his birthday by swimming in the county wide championship swim meet on his birthday that very day. He did extremely well too, nine days post-op. 😲 His friends from his relay team shared a pool themed birthday cookie and a birthday sleepover party at his house later in the day. Our very talented daughter in law created the birthday tees for Mason's party. They were a hit!

She also created this adorable shirt for the birthday boy's sister. This was her right before the championship meet.
And this was Lucy Ann a few days later, sporting the hardware to back up her shirt's claim. She is speedy!!  Yep, and just like that it is August already. My life has been stuck on 'fast forward' lately.  I will catch up, I know that. It's all good.

Twirl, Girl, Twirl!

I was challenged to figure out what to do with that leftover pom-pom trim from the Big Hex. I had an idea! Remembering this book on my shelf:

...and a particular dress in that book...

I decided to add it to the hem of a T-shirt dress for my favorite little 4-year-old twirling girl. She came over yesterday for a "fitting". Measurements were taken and I made this dress up for her in the size suggested. It appears to be quite roomy upon completion, she had to leave before Nana was done, I believe she'll have this dress to spin around in for several seasons. Since I finished it up after her departure and  I still had the dress here with more time to think about further embellishments I came up with a plan. Yes, it definitely could use a monogram! That's what happens when things languish in the vicinity of the embroidery machine.
Perfect!  Really, who wouldn't want to twirl around in a dress like this one?

I made good use of that pom-pom trim, right down to those last few inches!
(The color in the photo below is much more representative of the actual hue than the above photos.)

"What's That?"

Anyone speaking to me has received fair warning!
"Wait, what was that you just said?"  My daughter-in-law has been printing up some new T-shirts for quilters and I have added two to my daily-wear wardrobe for spring. The first, pictured on the left, clearly expresses the reason you might just need to repeat yourself if the shirt's wearer has that distant, far-away look in their eyes. If you're a quilter you understand! 😉 This second one, below, clearly answers that oft-heard question: "what time is it?"  C'mon, you already know what time it is, that time never changes!
If you're interested in either one of these cute shirts, simply leave me a comment to that effect or email me. I will get you directly connected to the source for your very own, seriously super-soft, quilter's Ts. You'll love them.
Easter here was a glorious one! We spent the afternoon with these four precious children. Mason and Lucy Ann (above) traveled from the Capital City, here they are before church in their Sunday finery.
Lynnleigh (and all of her babies) and Gregory in their coordinated Easter outfits. Smiles all around on a very happy day.
He is risen! He is risen indeed!
May the joy of that empty tomb remain in your hearts today and always.
Alleluia!

"To Do" List

What's on your "to do" list this morning? I am wearing mine*. If you're in the southeast or mid-Atlantic area you most likely won't be going anywhere anyway.  Mr. Goodneedle and I were at a workshop south of Atlanta for the last couple of days but ended up leaving early to rush home ahead of the storm. We made it with a few hours to spare and rested well last night, we awakened to winter. This is the scene from my sewing room window this morning.

The power is on, it's warm inside. I know what I will be doing for the next few days, how about you?😉

* If you're interested in a T-shirt contact me by email, my daughter-in-law
creates these to order; you, too, can soon wear your favorite "to do" list!

A Pieceful Glimpse

The cards are addressed and sent, the gifts wrapped, the cookies baked. What's left to do?
Hannes and I want to express our sincere wishes for a "Pieceful Day" to you and yours... today and every day! Yes, my daughter-in-law has created yet another wonderful quilter's T that I am more than happy to model and market for her. These well fitting, comfortable shirts are long-sleeved, 100% cotton, pre-washed, tagless and all around wonderful!  Thanks to everyone who contacted me and ordered a "bobbin" shirt already, they are still available too.  I hope she creates a website so that I can link to it in the upcoming New Year and quilter friends can order simply with the click of a button from my side bar; but, for now, you can e-mail me for details, she has a fast turn around.
This cute spool motif is on the back of each shirt, your friends will recognize you coming and going! I hope to be back blogging with much more frequent regularity soon, very soon. My husband and I have been operating in a fog, so to speak, for the last month. All of a sudden that fog is lifting and it is Christmas! I have some stories to relate of recent happenings and, of course, photos to share. I'll be back. In the meantime: Have a Pieceful Day!

I'm Here To Tell Ya

Think of this as a public service announcement: if I can serve as anything it will be as an example to remind you to check your bobbin level before taking off on a stitching marathon!  I've been there, bought the T-shirt too. 😉  If you're interested in getting a T-shirt like mine, email me, my sweet daughter-in-law creates them for sale. The cute logo on the back neck (below)  is equally compelling. Just think, you can be a walking billboard too... as quilters we need to pass along all the good advice we've learned the hard way, it's our obligation to the future.
